2024 OSTC Swim Lessons Request Form
Completing this form places you on the swim lessons reservation request list for the Oakbrook Swim and Tennis Club. Please request a reservation for ALL sessions that you would like to be enrolled in for the summer.  If your child needs a swim placement test with an instructor we are happy to make those arrangements with you.

How to Sign Up for Lessons in Three Easy Steps

Step One:            Complete the Swim Lessons Request form (you are here now) Please provide information for EACH child that needs lessons. There will be space on this form for multiple children.

Step Two:            Wait for a confirmation email that assigns you one or more sessions, and time slots, for each of these sessions, per your request form.  Initial confirmations will be sent out May 15th. After this rolling confirmations will be sent out within 72 hours of receipt of request.

Step Three:        Members will have their OSTC accounts billed for lessons. This will show up as a balance due two weeks prior to your lessons starting. Late fees of $10 per session will be assessed for any balances due at the close of the season. Non-members must pay for their lessons immediately upon receiving confirmation of class placement.  Non-members will need to pay for each session in order to retain placements, even those later in the summer. Payments can be made on our website after May 15th.  Please only request lessons that you are able and prepared to pay for.

***  Payments must be submitted within 72 hours of receiving your confirmation email or you will lose your reservation ***

We are looking for some child volunteers to assist with our swim lessons training. This would be free pool time with experienced and new instructors as they practice with real students. Our training dates are still pending, but we are looking at 4:00-5:00pm and 5:00pm - 6:00pm after school on a few days within the June 3-7th or 10th-14th window.

Parent Child I

This class is for infants aged 6 months - 2 years of age. This is a water acclimation and safety class taught in our brand new extra large, extra heated, baby pool. Goals of the class include comfort within the water and socialization through songs and games. Parents are in the water with their child.

Parent Child II

This class is for infants aged 18 months - 4 years of age. This class will allow more instruction of basic water acclimation skills such as holding breath, putting face in the water, getting in and out of the pool, holding the edge of the pool to navigate, and wearing a life jacket. Parents are in the water with their child.

Small Pool Level One: Swimming Basics

This is a new class for 3-5 year olds. Children may benefit from this class if they have fear of the water, or others may love the water too much and struggle to follow directions with the class. Some children need practice being in a class without a parent before taking a lesson in the big pool (where listening relates directly to safety). This class is taught in the baby pool where students can safely stand. It is a modified level one curriculum, with or without a parent in the water, and builds up to a level one in the big pool.

Big Pool Level One: Swimming Basics

Your child is ready for Level One if they are already three years of age and they can:

* Exit the water to use the bathroom

                                                                              Level Three: Learn to Swim

Your child is ready for Level Three if they can:
* Step from side into chest-deep water, push off the bottom, move into a treading or floating position for at least 15 seconds, swim on front and/or back for 5 body lengths, then exit the water.
* Additionally, they should be able to move into a back float for 15 seconds, roll to front, then recover to a vertical position.
* Push off and swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to the front, then continue swimming for 5 body lengths.
